>It’s Crunch Time

>So Rob just broke a bowl. Not a whole lot of suprise, I worry for the clumsy fool sometimes. Oh, sorry, he comes in saying that he broke two bowls lol.

Before he sits down to read this, and before the internet destroys his already dangerousy low kitchen self-esteem, no, I’m not mad. Not even at all.

*Edit- Ok…so he’s broken a wooden cutting board too. Not entirely sure how he did it mind you.

No, Rob is not THAT bad in the kitchen….he’s only ever broken a couple things since I’ve been with him. I remember during the summer he broke a couple of bowls which prompted me to call mom saying that I needed to go find some new dishes. Then, just about a month ago, the boy broke what is known by all as my favourite mug.

A friend of mine that I used to work with many moons ago created this display for an art show she was in, in which the theme of the group was waste.

*Edit- something fell on the floor…no swearing, so I think we’re good!

At this art show, she had gone around and taken photos of garbage and framed them in broken window frames (which I had helped to prep!!), and a second display in which she had a free-garage sale. She had gathered up all the junk that she had been given over the previous year and placed it all on a table for people to look at and choose something to keep…all in exchange for their autograph in a book for her.

It was a wonderfully interesting idea, and was quite fun to see! Lots of people just coming to see the art, and leaving with a gifty!

I had found this massive, bowl shaped mug and saucer, and used them as my hot chocolate and bagel dishes. And then, Rob dropped the mug lol.

It’s ok, beleive me, I’m more releaved that he is ok. But man was it funny! And even now I’m laughing because he managed to cleave a wooden cutting board (ironically, the one I cut bagels on) in half!

Go Rob. Also, don’t hate me for laughing online at your expense.

On a side-note, originally I had intended on using the pieces that I saved from the mug to put back together as a pot or something. Rob (and the friend that i got it from) liked the idea of putting the pieces together as a mosaic. I’m not sure which I like better honestly. In any case, I like either idea because that way I can still see the pieces and I remember the instance that I recieved the original thing, as well as the circumstances that caused the piece to be in the pieces that are before me lol.

*Edit- So he’s brought me the new broken dishes..one is a bowl that’s part of my set of dishes from my late grandmother (the one that I wrote about a couple of posts ago…), and the other is a bowl that’s part of the set I got during the summer. And I still have no idea how he broke a cutting board!

>A day of random happenings……

I finished painting the bulletin board that would go above our new workstation. I say painted, because I can’t stand the look of regular boring brown bulletin boards. It just looks tacky and unkempt to me, especially if you load it up with lots of random meaningless note-taking. So I decided to break out the craft box (yes, I said craft box) and Martha it up a little. Rob picked the colours. Matches the painting opposite. I’m still finding paint in areas I didn’t know I had.

I explained to him another bulletin board trick I learned from Martha, including wine corks. I think he believes me to be mad. Or at least he’s written it down on his “Charlie is a boozer because” list that I’m sure he’s stashed somewhere.

I also got my Telus bill. Yay. I’ll explain my enthusiasm tomorrow.

I made some dessert-esque waffles for dinner, as it’s much to hot to attempt an oven on in this heatwave. They were chocolate-chocolate-coconut-walnut waffles, and they were very yummy with peanut butter! Again, quite sure the boy thinks me mad, but hey, he ate some too.

Put up a mirror for the eventual plants that will co-habit the tv case along with the sprouts and various garbage-room and dollar-store nick naks we pass off as heirlooms. God help us.

Also put up a couple pictures that we, again, found at the dollar store. I mainly blame myself, and my need for decoration. In any case, they follow the basic theme of the apartment. If you were all following along and paying attention, then by now you’d have guessed correctly what that theme was, and this entire sentence would be nothing but idle filler.

And if you guessed wrong, the correct answer was “Booze.”

I’ve been sitting on my laptop for a couple hours re-writing more recipes for the family cookbook (lol…”family!” BAH!), and whilst doing that I’ve been surfing for new blogs to read, and updating my computer as well. The electronamathingy on the list for tonight was my beloved Zune, and if you’ve no idea what that is, shame on you, you’ve missed some vital seasons of “The Real World, Road Rules: The Challenge (The Duel).” It’s my Godly music gizmo, the Microsoft version of the Ipod.

Anyhoo, I love my little Zune, but have neglected it since the move. So I reinstalled the software on my desktop, only to have to pick a name for it’s sync network or something stupid techy sounding like that. “CharlieBenn” was unavailable. But “MeltedVariable, BlackPorpoise, SaturatedFeline, ReflexiveToe, and RootedMocha” were available. I think we know what I chose.

Oh and also, you’re all wrong. I made up my own.

Nightie-ohs!!

>A promise is a promise!!

>WOOP WOOP I’M CULTURED AND THINGS!

(Hi I’m cultured and things, I’m Charlie haha)

So I posted yesterday about the paintings and couch being brought over by my dad, and as promised, here are some photos for those of you that don’t live one street over and visit sometimes, but not all the time, but the sometimes is good too don’t get me wrong…

I love these paintings, and barring the horrible photo quality (blame my beloved crackberry, and my aparent laziness for not using my camera), I hope you love them too! They’re called “Night and Day,” six feet long, and were painted by my granddad and completed in 1999. I remember him painting them, I was one of the only ones who he’d paint in front of. With most other people he would finish up something and put it away and look at you to talk to. But with me, he would just continue with the sketch or the brush strokes. When he finished with them, they were put in a couple shows, one McCain show in Florenceville I remember vividly. And from the time that he finished, I said that they would be mine.

So true to form, they hang in my apartment.

The other plus, and the original reason a truck was to stop here at Westgyle, was to deliver our slightly used, but not very, couch! So now we can have more that 3 people over at one time! It’s a pull-out too, for the couple friends that said that they will be claiming our living room at somepoint.

Rob decided that he has become a dumpster diver such as myself, so he procured the rather ugly but slightly awesome red velvet throw pillow which I think brings out the colour of the Golden Throne, which incidentally is yellow velvet.

And a tiny little shout-out to our new addition in the kitchen…we brought it home from the Superstore yesterday. It made the best waffles ever, which I have never done before.

Night guys! Ice cream awaits!
