>I felt fairly domestic today, as I made a chicken stoup in a slow cooker. I can honestly say that I have neverr actually used a slow cooker to that extent, never let something stew for an afternoon! It was really good too I think; poached chicken, blitzed cherry tomatoes, the last of a bag of potatoes, and some lentils and barley and pasta. It’s a full bowl!
And as I belive it’s day 6 in the Great Doughnut Whine, I caved and made Rob some doughnuts. I haven’t done that in ages, not since many a March Break growing up in my grandparents’ kitchen. I remember jumping up and down as I shook the tender warm morsels in a paper bag with cinnamon and sugar. And, in fact, I’m using the same recipe book that my Nanny did.
We didn’t exactly have enough oil, so unfortunately the ones near the end of the batch are a tad darker than the first ones out of the assembly line. I was so worried I was going to burn the apartment down that I actually had to stop about 2 thirds through the bowl. So that said…there’s fresh ones tomorrow now too! Any takers?
